A note about Islam and the Internet:

First, BE CAREFUL of what you read. I've been through hundreds of sites and it is amazing that some will say "TRUE ISLAM" or even have al-Islam titles, and they turn out to be wack information pages [many written by people against Islam]. You want to read "the other side", you say. Why read a page on Islam by a non-Muslim? Most contain inaccuracies, misconceptions and strategically present Islam in a bad light, without giving the complete explanation and understanding of issues. Learn about Islam itself from Quran and Sunnah and practicing Muslims and decide _for yourself_ what you think about it. The nature of the internet is such that anyone can publically advance their views freely [a good thing] and claim to be anything, but make sure what you are reading is from authentic Muslim sources. The internet should only be used as a resource and anything suspect should be checked out and explored; better sources being your local Imam, knowledgable Muslims, Mosque, Islamic center or Muslim Students Association.

Secondly, there is alot of desire to create a Muslim presence on the web, which is great. Yet the pages of most Muslims contain maybe a few redundant links seen already. What is NEEDED is specialization and branching out. Dedicated sites on things like "Islam and Comparative Religion", "Islam and Science", "Islam and Women", "Islam and Educating your child", Muslim search engines, new Islamic shareware, screensavers, downloadable coloring books, quiz programs, databases, etc are much needed. Explore what is out there already and just try to find a subject or theme you like and collect links, articles, pictures and develop a GREAT page or software on that subject.

An important thing to keep in mind is to have your title's as descriptive as possible of your page [DON'T use acronymns like IRSTU homepage (IRSTU?), don't call it frame1 (eh?), MSA homepage (there are 50 million, say who u are!), etc. ] Most search engines and I just list your own titles. As you can see from some titles down below, it is hard to figure out what some pages are about and hence, people are less likely to visit your page.

Lastly, a heartfelt request, please please do send me good sites that you have discovered or know about, but since the list is so huge now make sure it's in English! :)
